how to library 2.0

Yeah, this is a good start. Now how are your patrons going to find the Virb page? And the MySpace page? But once there… once they’re there, you drive them right back to your services. And that’s gold-star worthy.

(Look, dammit, they’ve actually included a catalog search box right on their Virb page! That can’t be over underscored. And look! Dammit! I just noticed that they do it on their MySpace page too!)

Thank you, Fort Worth.

  2. So that’s your handiwork, huh? Are there any bow-tied wusses worriedly backpedaling yet? Or do you just work in a forward facing info-to-the-people type of place?

  4. Luckily, there are only a few kinks left to work out in the line. One major one was the disclaimer. Now we are in limbo. The goal, of course, is to get all branches on with each providing a list of services unique to their place, as opposed the the “cathedral” site for the library. I’m still convincing myself that this will happen.

    Did you show your admins. the Brooklyn College Library profile? It’s a good selling point to academic libraries, I would think.

    Also, I couldn’t have done it without the help of the library’s webmaster, Rudy. He is invaluable.

  5. My latest correspondence with Rudy

    “Oh, and about the “finding us on MySpace etc” — I’m working on another “badge” to put on the homepage that has links to FWPL MySpaces, VIRBs, etc….

    I’m not sure yet what that’ll look like, I’ll keep you in the loop on it…..

    * Rudy”
